Azul Cordoba By The Local Way Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Azul Cordoba By The Local Way, you immediately get that “this isn’t your typical chain hotel” feeling. It’s tucked into the Roma Norte neighborhood — honestly one of Mexico City’s most walkable areas — and the whole vibe feels more like staying at a friend’s incredibly stylish place than a standard hotel. The building itself has this beautiful colonial architecture that’s been thoughtfully updated, and you can tell someone actually cared about preserving the character while making it work for modern travelers.

The Neighborhood Magic

Here’s what I love about this location — you’re right in the heart of Roma Norte, which means you can walk to some of the city’s best cafes, galleries, and restaurants without dealing with Mexico City’s notorious traffic. Couples especially seem to get this (they rate the location 9.2, which honestly makes sense), because there’s something romantic about strolling down tree-lined Córdoba street in the evening. You know what’s great? You’re close enough to Condesa that you can easily hop over there for dinner, but far enough from the touristy Centro Histórico that you feel like you’re experiencing the real Mexico City.

Your Space

The room I stayed in had this perfect balance of local character and modern comfort — think exposed brick walls, high ceilings, and actually good Wi-Fi. What struck me was how they managed to make a four-star property feel boutique without being pretentious about it. The beds are genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable), and the bathrooms have those little touches that show someone was paying attention to the details. I mean, decent water pressure in Mexico City is never guaranteed, but they’ve got that sorted.

The Local Way Difference

The “Local Way” part of the name isn’t just marketing speak — the staff actually knows the neighborhood and can point you toward places that aren’t in every guidebook. They helped me find this incredible little restaurant around the corner that I never would have discovered otherwise. There’s also this nice communal area where you can work or just hang out, which feels more like a co-working space than a stuffy hotel lobby. The whole approach is refreshingly unpretentious — they’re not trying to be the fanciest place in town, just a really well-run spot where you’d actually want to spend time.

Why Guests Love It

That 8.9 rating makes complete sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s one of those places that gets the fundamentals right — clean, comfortable, well-located — but then adds just enough personality to make it memorable. You’re paying for the location and the experience, not unnecessary frills, which honestly feels refreshing in a city where some hotels try way too hard. Whether you’re here for work or exploring the city, you’ll probably find yourself using the hotel as a actual base rather than just a place to crash, and that’s really what good hospitality should feel like.

Very stylish and centrally located apartment. Spacious and well maintained, we enjoyed our recent stay and would definitely recommend. Great comms throughout from the host who allowed a late free check out

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Irina from United States – 18 October 2024 (9/10)

If you appreciate the charm of the last century era, this is the perfect place for you! The beautifully renovated 1900s building is located in the heart of the Roma Norte neighborhood and features a private rooftop terrace where you can enjoy the sunrise or have a glass of wine in the evening.

Situated on a quiet street, it is just one block away from Colima Street, renowned for its restaurants, cozy coffee shops, and night lounges. Additionally, the grocery store and a pharmacy are only two blocks away.

The apartment is nicely furnished and equipped with a full kitchen and has a washer machine in a small laundry closet. It was impeccably clean and stocked with several sets of bath towels and extra blankets. It also had several fans and heaters; however, we didn't need to use either as the weather was perfect at 70°F in October.

The WiFi worked well, although some of the power outlets were slightly loose, and we had to manage to plug in. We had excellent communication with the management company and were welcomed at the door with the keys, given a tour of the property, and provided with detailed instructions and recommendations.

It's a lovely place with a calm and relaxing atmosphere. We highly recommend it for a couple or a family stay.

What could be improved: As mentioned above, the power outlets need to be fixed. Please also note that it takes a couple of minutes for the hot water to start running, so make sure to let it run a bit before you get into the shower unless you enjoy the cold showers.

  • Lisa from Australia – 6 October 2024 (9/10)

This accomodation is very spacious. Great location with many cafes and bars. Quiet, safe area. The host was very responsive and kept good communication. We were grateful for the clothes washing facilities.

What could be improved: It took a while for the hot water to run hot but we understand how this works in large apartment buildings.

  • Maria from Italy – 20 August 2024 (9/10)

Design, location, facilities (coffee machine, kitchenware)

What could be improved: Unfortunately hot water was not working but it got fixed the next day

  • Dominique from Germany – 12 March 2024 (9/10)

Beautifully located in an old building a bit away from the bustling streets but just two corners from some of the best restaurants and cafes in the area

What could be improved: Honestly nothing to dislike. Only thing might be that the sink is a bit smelly at times and the seating on the Terrasse is a bit dirty. Honestly those are minor things tho and it was a great stay.

  • Samanta from Portugal – 14 January 2024 (9/10)

Super cool house in the best location of CDMX

  • Daniel from United States – 9 April 2023 (9/10)

We had a wonderful stay at the Cordoba Blue apartment. The location was perfect, and the apartment was great for our family of four. The regular cleanings were especially appreciated, as was the great service from theLocalWay to purchase groceries prior to our stay, as well as set up tours to local sites. Thank you for the great stay!

  • David from Colombia – 14 March 2023 (9/10)

Super well located, the apartment had really goo amenities

  • Gabriela from Romania – 30 January 2023 (9/10)

The apartment is central, beautiful, very clean, in the most pleasant neighbourhood!

What could be improved: It gets very cold at night, since it's Mexico City, 2200 m altitude, and the big windows have spaces underneath, so the 6 degrees Celsius air is coming in! The heating is poor, only a small electric heater for the whole house, bring your parkas otherwise you will freeze!!

  • Claudia from United Arab Emirates – 2 January 2023 (9/10)

very special amazing clean and nice place, calm area and comfortable, everything was perfect highly recommended.
