Reviews of Casa de la Luz Hotel Boutique

The staff in the hotel and breakfast were wonderful, especially at the front desk.
What could be improved: The restaurant on the roof was okay, but not greatHilary from United States – 25 May 2025 (8/10)
Although not QUITE as breathtaking as the website/booking photos, it is LOVELY. Very clean, incredibly comfortable bed, good shower with hot water and excellent pressure (though we had to aim the nozzle at the wall to avoid massive leaks onto the floor), excellent amenities (water upon request, L'Ocitane bathroom products, robes, slippers, outlets on both sides of the bed, etc.) The included breakfast menu was quite large (I had the same thing every day but the offerings were available), the on-site restaurant had a good menu and attentive staff–once we arrived with 15 minutes until closing and they happily served us dinner, and good drinks, plus is very pretty. If I could pick up this hotel and move it somewhere else, I would stay here again. For travelers from the US, breakfast starting at 8 is later than we might expect (with only your in-room teeny tiny espresso machine if you're up earlier), and if you book tours they pick up incredibly early (4-5 am), so depending on your plans, you might not opt for the breakfast included price. The desk/door is staffed 24-7, which is nice, and it was generally quiet at "bedtime" with the exception of a little street noise, which is to be expected. We had a balcony room, which let in a lot of light, and I can't really imagine an interior option.
What could be improved: Obviously it is beyond their control, and I did as much research as is possible before choosing a hotel in another country, but the location is only ok. That particular part of the city (Centro Historico) is, apparently, almost always occupied with people in tents protesting the government (which I support as a right!) However, it makes walking around even trickier than it would already be in a super populated part of the city. I wouldn't choose this hotel if you were traveling with a big group, older folks, or kids, because the area is a little overwhelming to navigate and, depending on your familiarity with traveling, somewhat offputting in the evening. Additionally, depending on what tours you have planned/booked, some don't pick up in that part of town. (Two of our three did, because I chose options with hotel pickup rather than a central meeting site.)Sylvia from United States – 12 May 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: I can’t think of anything I didn’t like.Charlotte from United Kingdom – 12 May 2025 (8/10)
Gorgeous hotel situated in a great location. It was very easy to walk from the hotel and access the main areas within the historic centre, and the hotel were great at helping us arrange a taxi to/from the airport to the hotel. Restaurant on the top floor was great and the staff there were lovely

What could be improved: NothingSow from Singapore – 5 May 2025 (8/10)
Beautifully maintained building. Nice rooftop restaurant with good food and drinks, although not much view. Toiletries provided was I’occitaine, much better then what a high end hotel provided where I stayed a few days later. Staff was attentive with good customer service. Breakfast to order was good and came with a fruit plate, choices of juices and coffee
What could be improved: The bedroom door cannot be locked from the inside. You need to instead close another set of wooden doors. Minor inconvenience. Bottled water provided was small (400ml). Although the hotel does provide additional bottles upon request, we bought large bottles for convenienceLuis from Sweden – 14 April 2025 (9/10)
Special thank you to Heydi, Roberto, Axel, Francisco, Antonio and Salvador very kind and helpful people during my stay.

Excellent restaurant!Karen from United States – 10 April 2025 (9/10)
Breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. The serving team was professional and very polite.
The restaurant upstairs was fantastic.Urbano from United Kingdom – 9 April 2025 (8/10)
The hotel was very comfortable , and all the staff were excellent kind and helpful spoke good English
It’s Central for tourist locations – a return taxi from / to the airport by the hotel’s diver was $75 and a comfortable ride –
We found it noisy in our rooms in the evenings –
one evening with a loud party using the bar restaurant above the rooms.
On another we heard the loud television from the room next door and dragging / cleaning noises from the bar and restaurant above our room during their closing period.
If you go to bed later ( after 11 pm ) you wouldn’t be disturbed and it was peaceful.
It was a unique experience in the beautiful building.
