Reviews of Círculo Mexicano, a Member of Design Hotels

  • Barry from Ireland – 20 April 2025 (9/10)

Beautiful design hotel. The rooftop and pool are amazing. Breakfast on the rooftop everyday was such a treat

What could be improved: Hardly anything. But I would say choose your room carefully. Our beautiful private patio did share an internal courtyard space which you could hear a lot of noise from other guests at all times of the day. I personally would prefer more quiet.

  • Fiona from United States – 9 April 2025 (9/10)

Beautiful design (rooms and rooftop). The craftsmanship was quality not cheap. The rooms had high ceilings, quality custom lines, soundproof windows, good AC, a safe, fridge, mini bar and a nice deep closest. Cleaning was daily with fresh towels. Lots of lights, a nice TV, we slept like babies.

The rooftop was smartly designed as a multi use area. It had a pool, bar, sauna, hot tub, fir pit, restaurant and bathrooms. The views of the church and square were wonderful.

The daily breakfast was a highlight. A great multi course breakfast with bottomless coffee and many menu items to choose from. The wait staff were very attentive.

The hotel has many shops and is close to all activities that leave from central area.

What could be improved: We spent a lot of time in the other areas with better eating out options (Condesa and Roma). So a hotel in Central area was not ideal because we needed taxis. But this is not the hotel's fault. We knew this when making the reservation.

The pool was too cold to swim in when we arrived but after a few days it warmed up. A heated pool could mean more use for guests during the cooler months. It would have been good to have more sun loungers (only 4) and add some umbrellas so you can easily move between shade to sun on the same chair.

  • David from United Kingdom – 22 January 2025 (9/10)

Incredible restaurant and the best margaritas we had in Mexico City!

  • Isra from Mexico – 12 June 2024 (7/10)

The best part is the service. People are friendly and kind and provide the best service. Also, the breakfasts were delicious, but I recommend taking advantage of the fantastic Mexican gastronomy well-known in Mexico City; the breakfasts were not spectacular. We loved our room. The bed was comfortable, and the room was silent, peaceful, and clean. The best part of the room was the shower; wow, we loved it and wanted to take showers all the time. The pool bar in the roof garden is a beautiful hotel area; we enjoyed some cocktails and delicious food; the pool was very cold and unpleasant to swim or get in.

What could be improved: There were many dead cockroaches at the hotel's entrance (we counted 17), and unfortunately, we saw six cockroaches running inside the hotel on the first floor between the restaurant in the lobby and the front desk. The hotel is located exactly next to the Cathedral of Mexico City, and the surroundings are not the safest places for foreign people. The police closed the streets closest to the National Palace and the Cathedral, and we could not drive our car to the hotel. We even had problems walking back to our hotel. The police questioned who we were and did not let us pass on two occasions. When we asked for our taxi to the airport, the police did not allow the cab to access the hotel. We had to walk two blocks at night to get to the cab; it was not safe, and that situation was tiring. The location of the hotel is not the best.

  • Dimitrios from Greece – 3 May 2024 (7/10)

The interior design is great. The location is very convenient if you want to discover the historic centre. The room was clean with amenities of good quality. The bed mattress is excellent (unfortunately you can’t enjoy it see comment below).

What could be improved: Despite the great design and the overall aesthetics of the hotel, the place does allow a good sleep. The rooms are noisy, day and night. During the day you can listen to the music of the hotel’s common areas, while at night, the noise is serious either because of the poor soundproofing (tv from adjacent rooms or talks) and/or the very strong noise from the water distribution system of the adjacent rooms. You can’t sleep without ear plugs.

Another serious issue is the toilet “cabin”. It is in practice open space (with the entire room). No privacy at all. And this problem is to all hotel rooms if I’m not mistaken.

Lastly, another negative point is the breakfast. There are limited options (in terms of variety and portions). The personnel repeats that if you want a second glass of orange jus or you want some cheese in your omelette, an extra fee applies (“you can have eggs either with ham or cheese”). This gives a very “cheap”/miserable feeling.

  • Rachel from United Kingdom – 19 April 2024 (9/10)

Bed was so comfy! And the rooftop area was a great place to hang out.

  • Frederick from United States – 25 March 2024 (9/10)

What could be improved: It would have been nice to have a window facing outward, but the airshaft provided light and was private.

  • Sophie from United States – 15 March 2024 (8/10)

Very cool design, amazing old building, gorgeous rooftop, good location, clean room, delicious breakfast and lovely staff.

What could be improved: Bedcover too small for bed (a design feature but annoying); smells from shower/water system; extremely uncomfortable bouncy mattress; walls between rooms rather thin; not enough deck chairs around small swimming pool. Pricey for the downsides.

  • Sarah from United States – 23 August 2023 (8/10)

The hotel itself is gorgeous, with really pretty modern rooms and shared spaces! There are a bunch of cool shops and a few restaurants on the ground floor, which is nice to explore.

What could be improved: The rooms were a little bit loud, it was easy to hear noise from the atrium. But later at night it was totally fine! We missed the hotel breakfast because of an early flight.

  • Clare from United Kingdom – 14 May 2023 (9/10)

Perfect boutique hotel with relaxed atmosphere. Fantastic location, ideal for visiting Centro Historic.

    What could be improved: nothing
