Coyoacan City Lofts Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Coyoacan City Lofts, you immediately get the sense that this isn’t your typical hotel — and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it work. The building has this converted warehouse vibe that feels authentically Mexico City, without trying too hard to be trendy. It’s a three-star property, but the design choices show more personality than many fancier places I’ve stayed at. The lobby area is compact but welcoming, with local artwork that actually looks like someone curated it rather than just ordering from a hotel catalog.

Location & Neighborhood

You know what really sold me on this place? The location in Coyoacán is absolutely perfect if you want to experience the real Mexico City beyond the tourist zones. This neighborhood has such a different energy — tree-lined streets, weekend markets, and cafés where locals actually hang out. The Frida Kahlo Museum is literally a 10-minute walk away, but more importantly, you’re surrounded by authentic taquerías and mezcal bars that you’d never find in the hotel zone. I mean, couples rate the location 8.8 out of 10, and after spending time here, I totally get why.

The Loft Experience

The room — well, loft really — surprised me with how much space you actually get. These aren’t cramped hotel boxes; they’re proper apartment with high ceilings and big windows that let in tons of natural light. The industrial touches work well here, exposed brick and concrete that feels intentional rather than unfinished. Each unit has a small kitchenette area, which comes in handy when you want to grab fresh ingredients from the local markets and make your own breakfast. The beds are comfortable enough, and the Wi-Fi actually works reliably — something you can’t always count on in this part of the city.

Practical Details

What I appreciated most was how straightforward everything is here. There’s no pretentious concierge service, but the staff knows the neighborhood inside and out and will give you real recommendations. Parking can be a bit tricky in Coyoacán generally, but they’ve got a small lot that works fine if you’re driving. The building doesn’t have a fancy restaurant or spa, but honestly, why would you want that when some of Mexico City’s best food is right outside your door? The whole setup feels more like staying in a friend’s cool apartment than a traditional hotel.

Why Guests Love It

This place works because it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. You’re getting a clean, comfortable base in one of Mexico City’s most charming neighborhoods, with enough space to spread out and feel at home. The value is solid for what you pay — you’re not subsidizing a bunch of amenities you won’t use. Instead, you get authentic Mexico City living with the reliability of proper hotel management. If you want to explore beyond the typical tourist trail and experience the city like locals do, Coyoacan City Lofts gives you exactly that opportunity.

Mexico’s hotels mix rooftop cantinas, artisan market strolls, and boutique stays near volcanic highlands.

Reviews of Coyoacan City Lofts

  • Wanlun from Taiwan – 13 September 2024 (7/10)

Good location in a good area. Amiable hosts try their best to solve problems and help.

  • Pauline from Mexico – 23 April 2024 (8/10)

The host was super friendly and let us in without hesitation even after our delayed arrival. The place was clean and practical.

What could be improved: A bit hard to find.

  • Salvatore from United States – 29 February 2024 (7/10)

This is at a very prime location and super close to the markets in Coyocan! less than a mile away and close to some very very good restaurants this is perfect for those who are just spending a day or 2 in CDMX

What could be improved: The bathroom could have been cleaner due to the lack of ventilation there was a lot of growth of mildew in the shower which wasn't pleasant to see.

  • Memo from Mexico – 8 February 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: Check out demasiado temprano.

    Faltan cortinas black out

  • Menzona from United Kingdom – 18 September 2023 (8/10)

Spacious and clean, and very close to Frida Museum. Coyoacan is the best neighbourhood and the lofts are situated in a perfect part of it.

What could be improved: José (takes care of guests) had been very attentive. Until my last night when I asked if I could store one cabin bag and a small backpack for 2 hours after check out while I visited Frida Museum (600m away). He came back saying that will cost 200 pesos!
When I asked the owner, she said sure, no problem.
Sandra the cleaning lady assisted me. It’s never a nice feeling when staff try and make extra money off guests.

  • Ana from United States – 29 March 2023 (8/10)

This property is perfect for a family that needs multiple rooms. We rented out the entire property and all of the rooms we occupied faced the beautiful and serene little courtyard. We felt safe and secure the entire stay, especially because we had kids with us, they played in the courtyard and we had all of our sliders open, with the perfect sunny weather, all of us adults enjoyed gathering in the courtyard after a long day of sight seeing, this place is a gem!

What could be improved: The only thing I would say is that the property is right next to the on ramp of the freeway and is quite noisy with the traffic. I asked for a fan and one was provided so it helped drown out the noise at night, otherwise some ear plugs also help alleviate the noise.
