Reviews of Downtown Mexico

  • Aylin319 from United Kingdom – 1 April 2025 (8/10)

The staff was super friendly and helpful, every single one from bellman to receptionists 🫶
The location was great, although it can get really busy around there. The hotel itself is nice but felt a bit outdated in parts

What could be improved: It was overall a bit too dark, around the facilities and rooms
    lacking character and personal touches
    breakfast was a letdown
too pricey for what you get

  • Rodrigo from United Kingdom – 4 September 2024 (8/10)

Great location if you want to stay in the city center. Cool rooms, layout, comfy beds and linen, well stocked bar, good quality toiletries, welcoming staff.

What could be improved: Breakfdast can be improved. Pool area lacks character and feels outdated – same with roof top bar.

  • Carol from Australia – 10 August 2024 (9/10)

A delightful boutique hotel in the bustling historic centre of Mexico City. The staff were helpful and obliging. Any problem was attended to promptly and the rooms were quite unique in their design, if a little dark.

What could be improved: The only thing we didn't like was the restaurant downstairs playing tecno music during the day, which was audible if our windows were open.

  • Nicolas from Switzerland – 31 July 2024 (8/10)

Super central spot in an amazing historical building. Great rooftop bar

What could be improved: Can be quite dark, it takes some getting used to it
Also, really didn’t appreciate the fact that for that price there’s no water available in the room. Had to go to front desk to complain to be told that we could have some water from the mini bar free of charge. Compared to other hotels in the area we stayed at, I think this is very off putting. I ended up going to 7/11 to buy water as we were so thirsty.

  • Silvino from United States – 19 July 2024 (9/10)

The ambiance was perfect and I loved the decoration of the facility and the rooms.

What could be improved: The hotel staff followed us to our room. It was very unpleasant having eyes on you as if you didn’t belong there or as if you were up to no good. I understand the guards are there to make sure certain people aren’t making themselves in the facility without permission but the staff need a better way of checking people going in because following behind us made us feel very uncomfortable and unwanted. Try better please. Should have someone checking keys near the elevator before people enter this way they aren’t guessing and making guests feel uncomfortable.

  • David from United Kingdom – 13 July 2024 (8/10)

Fantastic location for the centre of the old town and a great, quirky building. The rooms are luxurious and interesting and the breakfast worth getting up for!

What could be improved: The restaurant downstairs can be noisy but ear plugs are provided!

  • Jenjen from United Kingdom – 7 May 2024 (9/10)

Stunning property, old palace, superb huge rooms, right in the centre of downtown Mexico City by the historic sights, fabulous breakfast

What could be improved: Rooms are very dark. Reception staff aren’t that friendly, though the breakfast staff are. Air conditioning is noisy and doesn’t work well though there was a fan in the room (we were there during a rare heatwave so you should ordinarily be ok)

  • Lauren from United Kingdom – 24 April 2024 (7/10)

Beautiful property, design was wonderful and convenient with shops downstairs and a restaurant. The rooftop pool was a lovely addition along with the rooftop bar/ restaurant where we had some good cocktails and a great lunch by the pool

What could be improved: – Lighting is terrible (makes for difficulty getting ready)
    – AC was in desperate need of a service (noisy and not cold – we were moved to a different room due to a broken unit and the new rooms unit was worse)

  • Weeder from United States – 13 April 2024 (8/10)

Food, design, service were all excellent.
The room – number 3 – had a funky smell – perhaps due to the air conditioner. It made everything feel less “clean” – even though the cleanliness of the room was very good.

What could be improved: Something is wrong with the HVAC system in our roo

  • Peter from United Kingdom – 11 March 2024 (9/10)

It’s a beautiful building with central courtyard and roof terrace with pool, bar and restaurant. Our room was wonderful as were the breakfasts with great staff. The location could not be better.
