Hotel Mina Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Hotel Mina on General José T. Salgado, you’ll notice it’s not trying to be something it isn’t — and honestly, that’s refreshing. This three-star property sits comfortably in Colonia Buenavista, a neighborhood that feels authentically Mexican without the tourist crowds. The building has that classic Mexico City charm, nothing flashy, but there’s something welcoming about the entrance that made me feel like I’d made a smart choice.

The Neighborhood Advantage

Buenavista is one of those areas that locals know but tourists often overlook — which works in your favor. You’re close enough to the action but far enough away to actually get some sleep. I mean, couples seem to really get this location (they rate it 8.0, which is pretty solid), and I can see why. There’s authentic street food within walking distance, and you’re not paying historic center prices for everything. The area has this lived-in feel that gives you a real sense of the city. It’s the kind of neighborhood where you can wander around and discover hidden gems without feeling like you’re on a tourist trail.

What You’re Getting

The room I stayed in was clean and functional — exactly what you’d expect from a well-run three-star place. Nothing fancy, but the bed was comfortable and the air conditioning worked properly (trust me, that matters in Mexico City). What really stood out was how many guests I met who’d stayed here before. Apparently there are way more repeat visitors than at most hotels, which tells you something about how they treat people. The housekeeping staff maintains everything to a high standard, and you can tell they take pride in their work.

The Practical Stuff

Here’s something that’ll save you money and hassle — they have free private parking right at the hotel. If you’ve ever tried to park in Mexico City, you know this is basically gold. No circling blocks looking for a spot, no paying ridiculous daily rates at some sketchy lot. You just pull up and you’re done. For a three-star place to offer this is actually pretty impressive, and it’s one of those details that makes your whole trip smoother. The restaurant on-site serves decent breakfast options to start your day right.

Why Guests Love It

Look, Hotel Mina isn’t going to wow you with marble lobbies or rooftop pools, but it does something better — it gets the basics right and doesn’t charge you extra for common sense. The staff seems to understand that travelers want reliability over flash, and that repeat guest thing? That’s not an accident. It’s the kind of place where you can focus on exploring the city instead of dealing with hotel drama. For the price point and location, it’s honestly a solid choice that won’t leave you with any unpleasant surprises. You’ll find yourself recommending it to friends.

To book a hotel in Mexico during mariachi festivals, visitors plan early to blend rooftop fiestas with sunrise hot-air balloons over valleys.

Reviews of Hotel Mina

  • Pardeep from Mexico – 5 April 2025 (7/10)

Great value hotel, cleaning staff were great and friendly. For the price of the room, it was extremely large.

  • Abhishek from United Kingdom – 9 October 2024 (7/10)

    Location

What could be improved: Cleanliness could be improved a little. Towels were releasing threads

  • Perez from Mexico – 15 June 2024 (8/10)

It was good enough 😌 ✌️

  • Gabriel from Mexico – 28 April 2024 (7/10)

It has what you need. Bathroom, bed and a TV. The neighborhood isn’t the best but I’m not a picky person so I didn’t mind at all. I would stay here again for sure.

What could be improved: Not all outlets worked so I had to charge my devices up one by one.

  • Veerle from Belgium – 19 March 2024 (7/10)

    Good bed

What could be improved: Lot of noise

  • Chris from United Kingdom – 30 December 2023 (7/10)

    Nice comfy bed, good shower

What could be improved: I would like one of those room safes for valuables. There was no cupboard or place to hang clothes in this room (I've previously stayed in this hotel and there was a wardrobe of sorts in that room).

  • Cristina from Spain – 11 November 2023 (7/10)

Simple but nice room very close to the center

What could be improved: The wifi connection was nor very good

  • Chris from United Kingdom – 5 November 2023 (8/10)

The reception staff were friendly, it was a nice size room.

What could be improved: I would have liked the room to have had one of those hotel room safes in it.

  • Flórez from Colombia – 11 October 2023 (6/10)

What could be improved: Era más tipo residencias o motel

  • Robyn from Canada – 12 March 2023 (8/10)

very clean basic lodgings and great staff!

What could be improved: the location was a little bit dodgy at night on some
streets close by – no fault of theirs!
