First Impressions

Walking up to LAREDO By Mr W on Calle Laredo, you immediately get the sense that this three-star boutique property knows exactly what it’s doing. The building has this understated elegance that fits perfectly with the upscale Polanco neighborhood — it’s not trying too hard, but you can tell someone put real thought into every detail. Honestly, the entrance alone made me rethink what a mid-range hotel in Mexico City could actually deliver.

Location Magic

Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re literally in the heart of Polanco, which means you can walk to some of the city’s best restaurants and galleries without dealing with Mexico City’s notorious traffic. I mean, Avenida Presidente Masaryk is just around the corner, and that’s where you’ll find everything from high-end shopping to incredible street food. The couples who stay here absolutely get it (they rate the location 9.7, which honestly doesn’t surprise me at all). You’re also close enough to Chapultepec Park that a morning jog actually becomes tempting, and the Polanco metro station makes getting around the rest of the city surprisingly easy.

The Room Experience

The room design strikes this perfect balance between modern and warm — think clean lines but with touches that remind you you’re in Mexico, not some generic international chain. What really impressed me was the attention to lighting; they’ve got it figured out so you’re not squinting to read at night or dealing with harsh overhead lights. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms feel more spacious than you’d expect. You know what’s nice? The windows actually open, which seems like a small thing until you realize how rare that is in modern hotels.

Neighborhood Vibes

Polanco has this interesting mix of old-money elegance and contemporary energy, and staying here puts you right in the middle of it. During the day, you’ll see business people heading to meetings mixed with families exploring the area’s museums and parks. The evenings are when things get really interesting — the restaurant scene around here is incredible, from hole-in-the-wall taquerias to places where you need reservations weeks in advance. I actually discovered some of my favorite Mexico City spots just by wandering the streets around the hotel.

Look, there’s a reason this place consistently gets high ratings (8.7 overall, with that 9.5 location score). It’s not trying to be something it’s not — it’s a well-run, thoughtfully designed hotel in one of the city’s best neighborhoods. The staff actually seems to care about your experience, and they know the area well enough to give you recommendations that go beyond the obvious tourist spots. For the price point, you’re getting way more than you’d expect, especially considering you’re staying in what’s essentially Mexico City’s equivalent of Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

  The property is in a great location within walking distance of many parks, restaurants, and shops. Beautiful layout where we had enough space while away from home.
  
  What could be improved: Lol, the stairs but that can be easily solved by staying on the ground floor next time!

  We used the kitchen for our meals. Very comfortable apartment. It's very cozy.
  
  What could be improved: Our neighbors were loud. However, I will attribute the nuisance to the acoustics of the walls and the proximity of our bedroom window to their kitchen window. Not much you can do about that other than ask the neighbors to be considerate.

  I loved the bed, so comfortable and had a full smart tv which was so nice to use when we wanted to rest. Amazing location, in between two parks, right by multiple restaurants and we walked all over.
  
  What could be improved: Wish there had been a couch in the living room rather than uncomfortable chairs, but loved it.
