The Red Tree House Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to The Red Tree House in Mexico City’s Condesa neighborhood, you immediately understand why this three-star boutique spot has such devoted fans. It’s tucked away on a quiet residential street, but honestly, that’s exactly what makes it special — you get all the energy of one of the city’s coolest areas without the constant noise. The building itself has this charming, intimate feel that bigger hotels just can’t replicate.
Location & Neighborhood
Condesa is where you want to be if you’re looking to experience the real Mexico City, and this hotel puts you right in the heart of it. You’re literally steps away from Parque México, which becomes this lovely social hub in the evenings when locals come out to walk their dogs and grab drinks at the outdoor cafés. The tree-lined streets around here are perfect for wandering — I mean, you’ll stumble across incredible taquerias, vintage shops, and some of the city’s best coffee spots just by walking in any direction. What really struck me is how walkable everything is from here.
The Room Experience
The rooms here aren’t huge, but they’re thoughtfully designed with local touches that actually feel authentic rather than touristy. Each room has its own personality — some face the quiet street while others overlook a small interior courtyard that’s surprisingly peaceful. The beds are comfortable (which isn’t always a given in boutique places), and you know what I appreciated most? The little details like good lighting for reading and enough outlets for your devices. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed, with decent water pressure that’s honestly better than some fancier places I’ve stayed.
Breakfast & Daily Rhythms
The restaurant serves a solid buffet breakfast that hits all the right notes — fresh fruit, local pastries, and proper coffee that’ll actually wake you up. It’s served in a bright, airy space that opens onto a small terrace, and there’s something really nice about starting your day there before heading out to explore. The staff genuinely seems to care about making sure you’re set up for a good day, offering neighborhood recommendations that go beyond the obvious tourist spots.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it gets the fundamentals right without trying too hard to impress. The location really is exceptional — couples especially seem to love how romantic the neighborhood feels in the evenings, with all those tree-lined streets and intimate bars nearby. You’re close enough to Roma Norte to easily hop between neighborhoods, but Condesa has this more relaxed, residential vibe that makes you feel like you’re living in the city rather than just visiting it. The staff knows the area well and can point you toward the kind of local spots that make a trip memorable. It’s not flashy, but it’s exactly what you need for a genuine Mexico City experience.

Excellent location and the staff are the friendliest. Very cute property with so much love and attention. Delicious breakfast, such a nice touch with the happy hour drinks in the evening to mix with other guests. Can’t recommend this place highly enough.
What could be improved: The rooms were very hot overnight without air con.Charles from Canada – 24 May 2025 (10/10)
The location in Condesa is central but very peaceful, with several excellent restaurants close by. They provided a daily, locally inspired hot breakfast along with cut fruit, pastries and fresh juice. The staff were all so friendly and helpful.

Location, environment, staff. It was wonderful stay!
What could be improved: The bed was squeaking a bit, otherwise it was very comfortable.Mark from United States – 7 May 2025 (10/10)
This was our second visit in 2 weeks, and we enjoyed it just as much as the first. The first visit we had a suite in the back building, the second visit was in a room in the front house, with king bed. Can recommend both. The staff and owners are so great.
What could be improved: Enjoyed it all.Madison from United States – 7 May 2025 (10/10)
The Red Tree house is a little oasis in Condesa! The hotel was so centrally-located to everything we wanted to do in Mexico City, and the room was incredible. We had two bathrooms! Breakfast was super tasty, and the extra happy hour was very fun to meet other travelers.
What could be improved: There was a slight ant problem in the room, but the staff were super helpful in coming and fixing it right away!Phinder from United States – 7 May 2025 (10/10)
An amazing small boutique hotel in the Condesa-Hippodrome barrio, one of the nicest residential neighborhoods in Mexico City. The property consists of two adjoining buildings with the main building containing the reception, several small lounge rooms, comfortable patio and a breakfast kitchen serving Mexican specialties. Our quiet apartment in the adjacent building had a window wall facing the leafy street. The staff always present to provide help arranging transportation and restaurant information. Make sure to ask for a map of the neighborhood that contains the name and location of select restaurants close by. Our rooms had a compact kitchen with a large distilled water dispenser and expresso machine. Our living room decorated with attractive and comfortable modern furniture and regional art.
What could be improved: The main bathroom was sparkly clean and modern with a large shower that on occasion experiences fluctuations in water temperature. The second bathroom was quite small but serviceable. There are several high steps on the ground floor landing leading to the elevator that can be difficult to see at night.Mark from United States – 26 April 2025 (10/10)
Breakfast was outstanding. The daily Mexican offering was varied and delicious. The chefs made everything on site, even the broths. In addition there was yogurt and fresh fruit and a large selection of pastries!
What could be improved: Hard to improve upon the great experienceGeorgina from United States – 24 April 2025 (10/10)
The staff are wonderful, very responsive and helpful. Great space in a serene setting in a very walkable area of Colonia Condesa. The included breakfast was also wonderful (accept the hot item of the day).
