Casa Chapulín-Mexican Eclectic Home in Roma Norte Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Casa Chapulín-Mexican Eclectic Home in Roma Norte, you immediately know you’ve found something different. This isn’t your typical hotel — it’s more like staying at the coolest friend’s place in one of Mexico City’s most vibrant neighborhoods. The three-star property has this wonderfully eclectic vibe that perfectly captures the artistic spirit of Roma Norte, and honestly, the 9.7 rating makes complete sense once you step inside.
The Roma Norte Experience
You know what’s brilliant about this location? You’re right in the heart of Roma Norte on Calle de Durango, which means you can walk to incredible cafés, galleries, and restaurants without dealing with Mexico City’s notorious traffic. The area has this perfect mix of tree-lined streets and creative energy that makes every morning walk feel like a discovery. The neighborhood attracts artists, writers, and travelers who appreciate authenticity over flashiness — and couples particularly seem to love the romantic, bohemian atmosphere here. It’s the kind of place where you become part of the community rather than just passing through.
Inside the Casa
The room I stayed in felt like a carefully curated art installation, but actually comfortable to live in. Mexican design elements blend with eclectic furniture and local artwork in a way that feels organic, not forced. There’s this attention to detail that you notice gradually — handpicked textiles, interesting lighting, books scattered around that you actually want to read. The space manages to feel both intimate and spacious, which is honestly pretty rare in Mexico City accommodations. Every corner reveals something thoughtful, from the way natural light filters through to the carefully chosen color palette.
Local Insights
What really sets this place apart is how it connects you to the neighborhood rather than isolating you from it. The hosts clearly know Roma Norte inside and out, and they’re genuinely helpful about pointing you toward the best local spots — not just the touristy ones. You’ll find yourself discovering mezcal bars tucked into converted mansions, weekend markets that locals actually shop at, and that perfect corner spot where the chilaquiles are exactly what you hoped Mexican breakfast would be. The personalized recommendations transform your stay into an authentic cultural experience.
Why Guests Love It
Staying here feels like you’re getting an insider’s view of Mexico City rather than just visiting it. The combination of the thoughtful design, the unbeatable location, and the outstanding guest feedback tells you everything you need to know. It’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay because you’ve fallen in love with both the casa and the neighborhood. Once you experience Roma Norte from this base, other parts of the city start to feel a bit generic by comparison. The property truly captures what makes this neighborhood special — creativity, authenticity, and genuine hospitality.

Love the location close to so many food and coffee spots, space was big enough for all my family. Beautiful house.
What could be improved: The water to shower was a little complicated it would either be too cold or too hot. That may be the infrastructure in Mexico City as I have read in other houses or hotels having same issues.Alberto from Mexico – 19 February 2025 (10/10)
La casa, la decoración, la ubicación
What could be improved: No tiene estacionamiento pero se puede dejar en una pensiónMeredith from United States – 22 January 2025 (10/10)
Beautiful (and big!) space in a great neighborhood. Spacious, clean, and amazing mid-century furnishings. There were 5 of us and we had more room than we needed. Centrally located so we could get to other neighborhoods easily by foot and/or uber, but tons of cafes and shops steps away when we didn't feel like going far. The outdoor private patio was a perfect breakfast spot. Host was very responsive too. Highly recommend.
