Casa Isolda Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Casa Isolda on Calle Kepler, you immediately get the sense this isn’t your typical chain hotel. The building has this understated charm that feels authentically Mexican without trying too hard — you know what I mean? It’s a three-star property, but honestly, the attention to detail in the facade and entrance area suggests they’re punching above their weight class. The neighborhood itself has this lovely residential feel that makes you feel like you’re staying somewhere locals actually live, not just another tourist zone.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s the thing about this spot in Mexico City — it’s genuinely well-positioned without being in the chaos of the main tourist areas. I mean, couples consistently rate the location 8.5 out of 10, and after spending time here, I totally get why. You’re close enough to reach the major attractions without dealing with the constant noise and crowds right outside your window. The street itself is pretty quiet, which is actually a rare find in this massive city. Recent guests have been rating the location 9.1, and honestly, that tracks with my experience — you can walk to good restaurants and cafes, but you also have easy access to public transport when you want to venture further out.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was smaller than what you’d find at a big hotel, but it felt thoughtfully designed rather than cramped. Everything you need is there — decent Wi-Fi, a comfortable bed, and a bathroom that’s clean and functional. What I appreciated most was how quiet it was at night; you’d think being in Mexico City would mean constant street noise, but the windows do a surprisingly good job of keeping things peaceful. The decor leans traditional without feeling dated, if that makes sense — sort of like staying at a well-maintained family home rather than a corporate hotel.
Daily Life at Casa Isolda
The staff here actually seem to care about what they’re doing, which isn’t always a given at this price point. They’re helpful with directions and recommendations without being pushy about it. There’s no fancy restaurant on-site, but honestly, that works in your favor — it pushes you to explore the neighborhood’s food scene, which is really where Mexico City shines anyway. The common areas are clean and comfortable, perfect for planning your day or just taking a breather between exploring sessions.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Casa Isolda isn’t trying to be something it’s not — it’s a solid, well-located place to stay that won’t break the bank. The 7.8 overall rating reflects exactly what you get: reliable comfort in a great neighborhood. What sets it apart is that location advantage and the genuine hospitality from the staff. You’re paying for a real Mexico City experience rather than a sanitized tourist bubble, and for a lot of travelers, that’s exactly what they’re looking for. It’s the kind of place you’d recommend to friends who want to experience the city like locals do, just with the security and comfort of a proper hotel.

El lugar era cómodo, en general limpio, muy tranquilo y silencioso
What could be improved: La duela del cuarto hacia mucho ruido al caminar y el baño olía muy feo lo que hacía que todo el cuarto oliera así.Maria from Colombia – 10 May 2025 (8/10)

The wifi was great and the room was clean. The location was fairly convenient and in a neighbourhood area. Very safe with personalised entry code. Bed was good and quality sheets and towels. Nice to have a coffee machine in the room. Shower was great. Nice to have a microwave and water machine. Good communication from the host by messages prior to the stay.
What could be improved: My biggest complaint was the place had no character or ambience and it's located in the middle of Polanco. The room (number 3) was nothing like in the picture – which showed wooden floors and a window with a view of trees. It was very industrial with concrete floors, and the only window was a sliding door that led to the patio of the adjacent room. My patio was actually inside the room. There was nowhere to hang clothes and the furniture, except for the bed, was very cheap. It was very dark in the room – even with the lights on and during the day. The paint was bubbling off the walls and plaster was falling off. There was no sound proofing and the room was downstairs so whenever someone entered it was noisy. Maybe the upstairs rooms were better, because the place had good feedback on Booking.com. The microwave was a good idea but there is no cutlery or cleaning stuff, so it's not really viable to use it. I never saw the host and they never replied to my messages asking to be moved.Nicole from Mexico – 15 February 2025 (1/10)
