Walking up to Corazón de México in the heart of Mexico City, you immediately get that this three-star boutique hotel takes its name seriously. The building itself has this charming colonial-style facade that feels authentically Mexican without being touristy — you know what I mean? It’s tucked into the Roma Norte neighborhood on a quiet residential street, which honestly surprised me given how central everything is. The entrance is modest but welcoming, and there’s something about the warm terracotta colors that just makes you feel like you’ve found a real gem.

The Neighborhood Advantage

Here’s the thing about the location — it’s actually brilliant. You’re in Roma Norte, which locals will tell you is one of the coolest areas in the city right now. I mean, you can walk to Condesa in about fifteen minutes, and the Zona Rosa is just a short metro ride away. What I loved most was discovering all these incredible street food vendors just around the corner, plus some seriously good coffee shops that aren’t overrun with tourists. The tree-lined streets make for perfect evening strolls, and there’s this authentic neighborhood vibe that you just don’t get when you stay in the more obvious hotel districts.

The Room Experience

My room was compact but thoughtfully designed — definitely not cramped, just efficiently Mexican in the best way. The decor strikes this nice balance between traditional touches and modern comfort, with handcrafted furniture and local artwork that actually means something. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and I appreciated the little details like the locally-made soaps and the fact that they’d included a small guide to neighborhood restaurants written by the staff. The bathroom was clean and functional, though don’t expect a massive space — this is Mexico City, after all, where every square meter counts.

Daily Rhythms

Breakfast happens in this cozy little dining area that feels more like someone’s home than a hotel restaurant. They serve traditional Mexican options alongside some international choices, and honestly, the chilaquiles were better than what I had at some fancy places in Polanco. The staff here really knows their stuff — they gave me directions to this amazing mercado that I never would have found otherwise. There’s no spa or fancy amenities, but there’s something refreshing about a place that focuses on getting the basics absolutely right rather than trying to be everything to everyone.

Why Guests Love It

What really sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both local and welcoming to travelers. The staff treats you like a neighbor rather than just another guest, and their recommendations are genuinely good — not just the usual tourist traps. Couples seem to particularly love it here, and I can see why; there’s something romantic about the intimate scale and the authentic neighborhood setting. The 9.3 location rating makes perfect sense once you spend a day exploring from here. It’s one of those places where you feel like you’re actually experiencing Mexico City rather than just visiting it, if that makes sense.

  Me gustó mucho! El departamento en general es muy bonito, además que todas las habitaciones son cómodas y amplias. Yo viaje en familia y todos los espacios se prestaron perfecto para convivir a gusto, además que tiene una terracita la cual está súper rica para ir a echar el chisme mientras te tomas algo deli 🙂 ademas tal cual se ve en las fotos es como se ve en la vida real.
  
  Además que la zona es súper tranquila y se siente muy segura al recorrerla de noche. Igual a unos minutos queda la estación del metro Chilpancingo, así que también se puede decir que estación muy bien conectada.
  
  La verdad me gustó mucho, seguro regresaré 😊
  
  What could be improved: Las escaleras son algo angostas, así que para personas que se les dificulte subir escaleras puede ser algo complicado, más tomando en cuenta que es un cuarto piso. Igual si son sensibles a los ruidos al dormir, hay que tomar en cuenta que a un lado hay unas canchas de tenis, entonces desde muy temprano se escuchan a las personas jugar ahí, por mi no hubo tema, pero un familiar que es de oído sensible si le molestó un poquito. Pero la verdad esos son detallitos a comparación de todo lo bueno que he brinda!

  The apartment is in a great spot, close to the subway, metro bus, and bus stops.
  The neighborhood is quiet, but there are plenty of restaurants and coffee shops.
  The apartment itself is spacious and sunny. The bedrooms overlook a small park with tennis courts partially hidden by old trees, and there is a quite big living room to hang on. In the bigger bedroom, there is a pool size tv.
  The owner is very, very helpful.

  Great location. Spacious and comfortable apartment. Good communication. Lovely rooftop beds. Pet friendly.
  
  What could be improved: First, there was a problem with the toilet flushing but that was attended to quickly. After that nearby construction workers came to ask us not use water in the kitchen. Also not a big problem. But then (maybe due to nearby construction) the apartment flooded every time we took showers. I mean gushing up from the drain. We had to spend loads of time each day mopping. We had to pay to launder all the towels we used to help sop up the water. It was a huge inconvenience.
  Also you needed a key to get in or OUT of the building which is both inconvenient and dangerous when there are three guests and only one key.

  La ubicación es excelente! Súper cerca de todo y muy tranquilo.
  Es un depa super acogedor y bonito, cuando llegamos estaba todo limpio y ordenado.
  La comunicación con el Host fue inmejorable y su disposición y apertura para las peticiones se agradece mucho!
