Edificio Aurora Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Edificio Aurora on República de Chile, you immediately get that feeling of being in the heart of something authentic. This three-star property sits right in the thick of Mexico City’s Centro Histórico, and honestly — the location alone makes it worth considering. The building itself has that classic Mexico City charm, nothing too flashy, but you can tell it’s been thoughtfully maintained. I mean, when couples are rating the location 8.9 out of 10, you know you’re onto something special here.
The Neighborhood Advantage
What really struck me about staying here is how you’re literally steps away from everything that makes Mexico City incredible. You can walk to the Zócalo in about ten minutes, and the Palacio de Bellas Artes is practically around the corner. The street itself — República de Chile — is one of those thoroughfares where you’ll find yourself discovering little cafés and shops you never planned to visit. Actually, I found some of my favorite mezcal spots just by wandering around the neighborhood after checking in. The metro connections are solid too, so you’re not stuck in just one area of this massive city.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was exactly what I needed — clean, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet considering you’re in the middle of one of the world’s largest cities. Nothing overly fancy, but the basics are all there and done well. The beds are actually comfortable (you know how hit-or-miss that can be), and there’s decent storage space for your stuff. What I appreciated most was the attention to detail — fresh linens, good water pressure, and windows that let in plenty of natural light during the day.
Daily Rhythms
Mornings here feel authentically Mexican in the best way possible. You’ll wake up to the sounds of the city coming alive, and there are fantastic breakfast spots within a two-block radius. I got into the habit of grabbing coffee from this little place down the street and just people-watching before starting my day. The staff at Edificio Aurora are genuinely helpful too — they’re locals who actually know the area and can point you toward experiences that aren’t in every guidebook. There’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that feels connected to the real rhythm of the city rather than isolated from it.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t a place where you’ll find a fancy spa or multiple restaurants, but that’s sort of the point. What you get instead is an authentic base in one of Mexico City’s most vibrant neighborhoods, run by people who care about your experience. The 8.3 overall rating makes sense when you consider what travelers actually want — a clean, comfortable place to sleep that puts you right where the action is. For couples especially, there’s something romantic about being able to walk to dinner, catch some live music, and stumble back home without dealing with long taxi rides or complicated logistics. It’s Mexico City hospitality at its most genuine.

Maria from Mexico – 5 May 2025 (7/10)
