Hampton Inn & Suites Mexico City – Centro Historico Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Hampton Inn & Suites Mexico City – Centro Historico, you immediately get that “oh, this is actually nice” feeling. It’s one of those three-star places that punches above its weight — clean, modern, and honestly way better than I expected for the price point. The lobby has this crisp, business-friendly vibe without feeling sterile, and the staff genuinely seems happy to help rather than just going through the motions. The hotel combines contemporary design with practical amenities that appeal to both leisure and business travelers.
Location Magic
Here’s the thing about staying in Centro Historico — you’re literally in the heart of everything that matters in Mexico City. I mean, you can walk to the Zócalo in about ten minutes, and the Templo Mayor is practically around the corner. What I love is that couples especially get this location (they rate it 9.5, which honestly makes sense), because there’s something romantic about wandering these historic streets at night. The parking situation is actually sorted too, which — trust me — is a huge deal in this part of the city where finding a spot can be a nightmare. You’ll find yourself within walking distance of museums, galleries, and authentic local restaurants.
The Room Experience
The room itself hits that sweet spot between functional and comfortable. You’ve got everything you need without unnecessary frills — good Wi-Fi, a decent workspace if you’re traveling for business, and beds that actually let you sleep well. The bathrooms are modern and clean, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places in the historic center miss this mark. What I appreciate is the attention to soundproofing; despite being on a busy street, the traffic noise doesn’t really penetrate. Each room is thoughtfully designed with the guest’s comfort in mind.
Morning Fuel
Breakfast here is American-style, which might sound boring but honestly works perfectly when you’re planning a day of exploring Mexican cuisine. Sometimes you just want familiar food to start your day — scrambled eggs, coffee that tastes like coffee, maybe some fruit. It’s reliable fuel before you head out to tackle street tacos and mezcal later. The breakfast area gets good natural light too, so it’s actually a pleasant way to ease into your morning rather than feeling rushed. The quality and variety ensure you’ll start each day energized.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to be the most Instagram-worthy hotel you’ve ever stayed in, but that’s sort of the point. It’s the kind of place that just works — you get a solid night’s sleep, wake up refreshed, and step outside into one of the most fascinating neighborhoods in Mexico City. The 8.6 rating makes perfect sense because it delivers exactly what it promises without any surprises. For the location alone, especially if you want to explore the historic center on foot, it’s honestly hard to beat at this price point. The hotel represents excellent value for travelers seeking authentic cultural immersion.
Hotel in Mexico bookings spike during Formula 1 race week, so fans lock in suites overlooking Reforma’s parade route.

It's a lovely old building, very friendly and helpful staff. They were prompt to help solve a minor problem with hot water. The location is wonderful a block away from the Zocale. Lovely experience.
What could be improved: The bathroom exhaust was a little noisy. They could put the water in glass bottles instead of plasticKen from United States – 30 April 2025 (8/10)

The historic hotel is so lovely & interesting – in a perfect spot w/in short walk to Royal Palace & Metropolitan Cathedral. The breakfast was excellent and the cafe in the front/entryway of the hotel is also very good. Staff were so kind/helpful!
Our room was spacious and comfy and clean. I’d come back again!

Beautiful building in á great location. Great staff even if few spoke English.
The concierge Edgar was very helpful and always on top of everything on our schedule, á great plus for the hotel.
What could be improved: Just a few details, the coffee machine was hard to use, needs to be changed.
The shower was not convenient for a short person like myself. The phone did not work well and the entry cards had to be reinitiated several times during our stay.Carmen from United States – 23 February 2025 (9/10)
