Hotel del Principado Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel del Principado on Londres Street, you immediately get that “hidden gem” feeling — it’s not flashy, but there’s something genuinely welcoming about the place. This three-star property sits right in the heart of Colonia Juárez, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The neighborhood has this perfect mix of local authenticity and tourist accessibility that’s actually pretty hard to find in Mexico City. The tree-lined streets feel more like a residential area where actual locals live and work.
The Colonia Juárez Advantage
You know what makes this location special? You’re literally walking distance from Zona Rosa, but you’re not stuck in the middle of all that tourist chaos. There’s a great little mercado just a few blocks away, and the Metrobús stops are close enough that getting around the city is actually manageable. The neighborhood offers that perfect balance of accessibility and authenticity. Couples consistently rate this location over 9 out of 10, and after spending time here, you’ll understand why it appeals to so many travelers.
Your Room and the Building
The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable — nothing fancy, but everything worked properly, which honestly can’t be said for every hotel in this price range. The building itself has character without feeling outdated, and there’s free parking available, which is genuinely a big deal if you’re driving in Mexico City. The staff keeps things running smoothly, and you can tell they actually care about guest experience. The overall atmosphere strikes a nice balance between comfort and practicality.
Food That Actually Delivers
Here’s where Hotel del Principado really surprised me — the food is legitimately good. The breakfast buffet has both international options and proper Mexican dishes, not just the watered-down versions you sometimes get at hotels. I actually found myself looking forward to eating at the restaurant rather than just grabbing something quick nearby. Recent guests consistently rave about the meals here, and the quality of both breakfast and dinner explains why the food gets such high marks from visitors.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it doesn’t try to be something it’s not — it’s a solid, well-run hotel in an excellent location with surprisingly good food and genuinely helpful staff. You’re not paying for marble lobbies or rooftop pools, but you are getting reliable comfort in one of Mexico City’s most livable neighborhoods. The fact that so many guests specifically mention the location and food quality tells you everything you need to know. It’s the kind of place where you can actually relax and feel like you’re experiencing the city rather than just passing through it. The value proposition here is genuinely compelling for travelers seeking authentic neighborhood experiences.

Clean, pleasant, quiet rooms. Very good location. Good value

The staff were friendly and accommodating when I needed an extra night after flights were cancelled. The wait staff at breakfast are wonderful also. There is everything you may need within walking distance too.
What could be improved: Not having temperature control in the room.Jason from Ireland – 6 September 2024 (8/10)
Room was extremely good value especially for the central location a stone’s throw away from the financial district. Public transport was also within easy reach, with two Metrobus lines running within 5 mins walk from the hotel.
Breakfast buffet might not be very glamorous, but the hotel’s buffet options feels like home-cooked meals (albeit limited), so if that’s right up your alley, the breakfast buffet might be a good option to sample some Mexican breakfast food.
What could be improved: The wifi in the room was extremely slow and unresponsive. Best to get an unlimited data plan than rely on the hotel’s terrible wifi.Lisa from Spain – 9 June 2024 (9/10)
Ideal location for both Roma and Condesa. Onsite secure parking and dog friendly. Also great breakfast at the hotel. Helpful staff.
It was a good find on booking.com
What could be improved: I would suggest having one plant milk available not just milk from a cow for anyone with allergies or vegans.
The fan in our room was very noisy. But there is no ac so you do need a fan in June the month we stayed.
The drain in the shower needed cleaning as it was blocked.Tegan from United Kingdom – 23 January 2024 (9/10)
Very clean, really lovely staff and a great, safe location
What could be improved: NothingBrady from United States – 18 January 2024 (8/10)
Comfy bed, breakfast with real options, location
What could be improved: Wifi was very inconsistent and I just went to the lobby to use it (where it still sometimes didn't work!)Phineous from Australia – 31 July 2023 (9/10)
They are very helpful, I cannot speak Spanish so they made sure my questions were answered.
What could be improved: Somehow there were mosquito's in the room.Grant from United Kingdom – 15 April 2023 (9/10)
I stayed here previously in the last two weeks so, my review of then applies
What could be improved: Nothing bad
