Hotel Arizona Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Hotel Arizona, you immediately get that classic Mexico City vibe — it’s not trying to be something it’s not, which I honestly appreciate. This three-star property sits right on Avenida de la República in Colonia Tabacalera, and while it might not have all the bells and whistles of fancier places, there’s something refreshingly straightforward about it. The lobby has this retro charm that feels authentically Mexican rather than touristy, and the staff genuinely seems happy to see you.

Location That Actually Works

Here’s the thing about Tabacalera — it’s one of those neighborhoods that locals know but tourists often overlook, and that’s exactly why it works so well. You’re literally minutes from the Zona Rosa and walking distance to some incredible street food (there’s this taco place around the corner that I still dream about). The area feels safe to wander around, especially during the day, and you know what? Couples seem to absolutely love it here — they consistently rate the location over 9 out of 10, which makes total sense when you experience it yourself.

The Room Experience

My room was clean and functional — not Instagram-worthy, but honestly, who cares when you’re spending most of your time exploring the city? The beds are comfortable enough, and the air conditioning actually works well (crucial in Mexico City’s warmer months). What I really appreciated was how quiet it stayed at night, despite being on a fairly busy avenue. The bathrooms are a bit dated but spotless, and there’s something to be said for hot water that’s consistently hot.

Practical Perks

One thing that really sets Hotel Arizona apart is the free private parking — and I mean, if you’ve ever tried to park in Mexico City, you’ll understand why this is basically gold. Most hotels in this price range either don’t offer parking or charge extra for it. The WiFi works reliably throughout the building, which isn’t always a given, and there’s a small restaurant on-site that serves decent Mexican basics if you don’t feel like venturing out for every meal.

Why Guests Love It

Look, Hotel Arizona isn’t going to win any design awards, but it delivers exactly what it promises — a solid, well-located base for exploring Mexico City without breaking the bank. Recent guests consistently praise the location (and honestly, they’re right to), and the staff goes out of their way to help with directions and recommendations. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in a real neighborhood rather than a tourist bubble, which is pretty rare these days. If you want authentic Mexico City vibes with modern conveniences and don’t need fancy amenities, this place actually hits the sweet spot perfectly.
