Hotel Atlante Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel Atlante in the Escandón neighborhood, you immediately get the sense this is one of those places locals actually know about. It’s a solid three-star property that doesn’t try to be something it’s not — and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it work so well. The building sits comfortably on Ciencias street, and there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole setup that puts you at ease right away. The hotel’s exterior showcases classic architectural elements that blend seamlessly with the surrounding residential buildings, creating an inviting first impression that speaks to both comfort and authenticity.
Location & Neighborhood
Escandón is one of those Mexico City neighborhoods that feels authentically local without being touristy, and the hotel’s position here is actually brilliant. You’re close enough to the action in areas like Roma Norte and Condesa (maybe 10-15 minutes by taxi), but you get to experience a more residential side of the city. Couples seem to really get this — they consistently rate the location around 8.8, which tells you something about how well-connected it feels. The fact that there’s free private parking available is honestly a game-changer if you’re driving in Mexico City. The neighborhood offers excellent walkability with local cafes, markets, and authentic eateries just steps away from your door.
The Room Experience
The rooms here are what I’d call thoughtfully simple — clean lines, comfortable beds, and everything you actually need without unnecessary frills. Each room feels well-maintained, and you can tell they put effort into the details that matter, like good water pressure and reliable air conditioning. The windows let in plenty of natural light, and honestly, after a day of exploring the city, you’ll appreciate having a quiet space to decompress. The furnishings are modern yet understated, creating an inviting atmosphere that promotes relaxation and rest.
Breakfast & Daily Rhythms
The American-style breakfast is straightforward and satisfying — think eggs, toast, coffee that’s actually good, and fresh fruit. It’s served in a bright dining area where you’ll often find yourself chatting with other guests, as there are quite a few repeat visitors here. The restaurant area has this relaxed morning energy that makes you want to linger over your coffee and plan your day without feeling rushed. The staff ensures everything runs smoothly from start to finish, creating a welcoming atmosphere that sets a positive tone for your entire day.
Why Guests Love It
What really strikes me about Hotel Atlante is how it manages to feel both reliable and welcoming — recent guests consistently rate it highly, around 8.9 for location. It’s the kind of place where the staff remembers your name after a couple of days, where the neighborhood feels safe for evening walks, and where you’re not paying for amenities you won’t use. The repeat guest factor here is notably high, which honestly tells you more about a hotel’s quality than any star rating ever could. Sometimes the best travel experiences come from places that simply do the basics really, really well, and this property exemplifies that philosophy perfectly.
Mexico’s hotels mix rooftop cantinas, artisan market strolls, and boutique stays near volcanic highlands.

Very comfortable bed. Surrounding neighborhood was quite and streets were fairly clean. We felt safe in the area.

Beware that the hotel seems to be less a tourist place, but rather for locals who take advantage of the 6 hour rates 😉
Hotel is conveniently located 5-10 minutes walking distance from 2 metro stations with in total 3 lines to choose from.
Suburb is okayish, some good cafés and restaurants around, although i didn't felt too safe walking from metro to hotel after dark. It's definitely not cayoacan or roma. The area is overall calm and quite.
My room was spacious and clean. Housekeeping was a bit too ambitious and cleaned the room although there was a do not disturb sign on the door.
Shower had nice hot water.
Overall one of the cleanest and most spacious places during my tripElda from Mexico – 12 October 2024 (9/10)

I had a long stay (~10 days). The location was great, close to the subway and it was a nice neighborhood. Breakfest was ok, it was good to have the option to eat there. The room didn't have air conditioning or a fan, so it was challenging during the day. The hotel also works as a place for couples to meet for a "quick encounter". It didn't really botter me, just when they were too loud lol. The staff was kind and the room was very clean.
What could be improved: They only leave one soap in the bathroom and I needed one for the shower and one for the sink. If I manage to get two, the next day the extra was gone e a new one was there as a replecement (but just one).Edgar from Mexico – 26 April 2024 (9/10)

Clean, 3 blocks to the metro station. We walked at 8pm and you could see other people on the street at the time (safe).
What could be improved: The restaurant facilities were not confortable or well structured. However the staff was nice.Nigel from Mexico – 2 January 2024 (9/10)

We had a really comfortable stay at this hotel. The rooms are comfy and spacious. Breakfast is good. We also liked the location – it's only short walk from metro and there is Oxxo just across the street.
