Hotel Azores Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel Azores on República de Brasil, you immediately get that classic Mexico City neighborhood vibe — it’s not flashy, but there’s something genuinely welcoming about the place. This three-star hotel sits right in the heart of things, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The building has that solid, unpretentious feel that tells you they’ve been doing this for a while and know what they’re about.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re actually in a real part of the city, not some tourist bubble. The República de Brasil area puts you within walking distance of some fantastic local eateries and shops that most visitors never discover. I mean, couples are rating the location 9.3 out of 10, and that’s not just because it’s central. You’ve got easy metro access, but more importantly, you’re surrounded by the kind of authentic Mexico City life that makes travel memorable. The street itself has this nice mix of residential and commercial energy that feels lived-in rather than touristy.
What to Expect Inside
The room I stayed in was clean and functional — nothing fancy, but everything worked properly, which honestly matters more than marble countertops when you’re exploring a city all day. The staff genuinely seems to care about making sure you’re comfortable, and they’re quick to help with directions or recommendations. You know what struck me? The place has this relaxed efficiency where things just get done without a lot of fuss. The Wi-Fi actually works well throughout the building, and the hot water is reliable — those little things that can make or break a stay.
Getting Around and Exploring
From Hotel Azores, you can walk to several metro stations, but I actually found myself strolling through the neighborhood quite a bit because there’s always something interesting happening on the streets. The nearby restaurant scene is fantastic — there’s this little taco place two blocks over that locals line up for, and a coffee shop that opens early if you’re the type who likes to get moving before the city fully wakes up. The hotel’s position means you’re not fighting tourist crowds every time you step outside, but you’re still close enough to hit the major sights without spending half your day in transit.
Why Guests Keep Coming Back
What really sets this place apart is that balance between location and value — you’re getting that prime Mexico City access without paying premium prices. The 7.9 rating reflects exactly what you’d hope: solid service, clean accommodations, and a spot that lets you experience the city like someone who actually lives here. It’s the kind of place where you spend your time exploring rather than hanging around the hotel, but when you do come back, everything feels comfortable and straightforward. For travelers who want to be in the thick of things without breaking the bank, Hotel Azores delivers on what matters most.

What could be improved: We found 2 cockroachs in the room 😒Matthew from United States – 6 January 2025 (7/10)
Close to the Zócalo and other central sites. Most of the staff was friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: Our sink and toilet regularly clogged with no intense use.Joseph from United Kingdom – 6 July 2024 (8/10)
The hotel was centrally located and very convenient for local shops and cafes and restaurants. It was only a short walk from our conference centre. The hotel room was very clean and comfortable and the staff were very welcoming and polite and the service was excellent. The hotel restaurant served delicious breakfasts and evening dinners if required and the choices on the menu were healthy and varied and good value. The hotel was within easy reach of public transport including the good metro service and buses. The hotel room provided everything necessary with ample wardrobe space with a useful safety deposit box of a good size with plentiful hangers and the bathroom was clean with good provision of toiletries. The hairdryer in the bathroom was in a perfect position in front of the mirror and was a good force. The electric sockets were good and the hotel WiFi allowed access to any service from all over the world unlike in other hotels I have stayed in. There were no restrictions. Television was provided in the room and the daily cleaning was impeccable. Very adequate mirrors were also provided and the desk was a good size and very useful. it was a great pleasure to converse with the staff in English and Spanish. It felt really great to talk to Mexicans in Spanish as they were so helpful understanding and kind. The hotel had a peaceful and calm family atmosphere. It took a little discovery to locate everything as I had not been to Mexico City before but I would return to the Azores for the location services friendly staff good food value for money and good communications with the rest of the world.
What could be improved: Frankly Azores is not a five star hotel and the facilities are a bit old even though they are kept impeccably clean by the daily services. The hotel music switch was a really lovely feature although the music was not exactly my choice. The fan on the ceiling could be rather delightful for those who enjoy that kind of thing but I do not like moving air so I turned it off. The lighting in the room was great but could be turned off if glaring. The washbasin was fascinating and looked like Aztec marble but had a small flaw on it.Dominika from Czech Republic – 16 February 2024 (8/10)
Very nice hotel and good location. Staff was nice and helpful.
What could be improved: Little bit uncomfortable bed but it’s not big dealGriselda from United States – 8 November 2023 (7/10)
The location was perfect, there is also a restaurant in the lobby in case you're hungry late in the evening. They have a small elevator.
What could be improved: Didn't like that our room wasn't sweeped nor that enough towels were given for the amount of people on the reservation.Merinda from Australia – 5 November 2023 (9/10)
Great location. Lovely duty manager Iris and all her staff were friendly and helpful. Very clean with a nice hot shower!

The calm music set a friendly and comforting atmosphere.
What could be improved: Bathrooms might need some maintenance fresh paint, taps tightening.Sandra from United States – 21 July 2022 (7/10)
Excellent location with good food and coffee nearby. Friendly staff and although we arrived early in the morning we were taken straight up to our room. Quiet and clean. Adequate facilities. Shower hot.
What could be improved: The window faces an interior space – good for light but not for a view.
