Hotel El Senador Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel El Senador on Dr. Erazo street, you immediately get that authentic Mexico City neighborhood vibe — this isn’t some sterile tourist bubble. The three-star property has this understated charm that honestly feels more genuine than a lot of flashier places I’ve stayed. You know what struck me first? The staff actually remembers returning guests, which makes sense given how many people come back here repeatedly. The attention to detail in how they greet familiar faces sets a welcoming tone from the moment you arrive.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Here’s the thing about this location — couples absolutely love it, and I can see why. You’re in a real part of the city where locals actually live and work, but you’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere. The street itself is pretty quiet, which is actually rare for Mexico City, and there’s this authentic energy that you just don’t get in the hotel zones. I mean, you can walk to proper taquerias and local spots that most tourists never find. The fact that recent guests rated the location 8.3 doesn’t surprise me at all. This neighborhood truly captures the essence of authentic urban living.
Your Room and Comfort
The room I stayed in was clean and functional — nothing fancy, but everything worked properly, which honestly matters more than marble bathrooms when you’re exploring the city all day. The beds are comfortable enough, and the air conditioning actually keeps up with Mexico City’s climate. What I appreciated most was the attention to small details — fresh towels, decent water pressure, and windows that actually open if you want some fresh air instead of AC all the time. These practical touches make a real difference during your stay.
Practical Perks
One huge advantage here is the free private parking — if you’ve ever tried to park in Mexico City, you’ll understand why this is basically gold. Most places either don’t have parking or charge you an arm and a leg for it. The front desk staff speaks decent English, but they’re also patient if you want to practice your Spanish, which I found refreshing. There’s no fancy restaurant on-site, but honestly, with all the incredible food options in the neighborhood, you don’t need one. This setup actually encourages you to explore and experience the local dining scene.
Why Guests Love It
The repeat guest thing really tells you everything — people keep coming back because it just works. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, and the value is solid for what you pay. The location gives you that real Mexico City experience without the chaos of the absolute city center, and you’re still well-connected to everywhere you want to go. For couples especially, there’s something nice about having a quiet base to return to after long days of exploring. The staff clearly takes pride in the place, and that shows in all the little touches that make a stay memorable rather than just functional.

Reviews of Hotel El Senador
Avishek from Canada – 22 April 2025 (9/10)
The beds were extremely comfortable and the room was very large and modern design of lights and a huge TV on the wall. The location is not as amazing as Roma and Condessa and becomes less crowded after sunset around 8 PM. In morning it is very safe and metro bus takes to Historic center in few mins. Also located just next to Roma/Condesa to explore at night if one wants. The staff were helpful and cooperative even though English was not their first language. Couple of goroccery shop available 5 mins by walk for getting drinking water and snacks if needed.
What could be improved: Having a fridge in the room would be helpful and didn't see any AC in room so not sure how it is in summerMarty from United States – 9 January 2025 (8/10)

The rooms are big and fresh. The bed was extremely comfortable. It's exceptionally clean here and they clean the room every day. The stuff is really friendly.I had everything I need here and enjoyed the stay a lot! Also it's only 10 minutes by feet from the metro.
What could be improved: It was a bit noisy in the morning. I guess it was a sound from the outside or of laundry machine. It woke me up a couple times.Rachel from France – 9 November 2024 (9/10)
