Artisanal Loft Coyoacan Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Artisanal Loft Coyoacan on Presidente Carranza, you immediately get that “hidden gem” feeling — it’s tucked away in a quiet residential street that feels worlds apart from the chaos of central Mexico City. The building has this understated charm that doesn’t scream for attention, which honestly makes discovering it feel even more special. You know what really struck me? How the entrance manages to feel both intimate and welcoming without trying too hard.

The Coyoacan Advantage

This three-star spot sits right in the heart of one of Mexico City’s most beloved neighborhoods, and I mean that literally — you’re steps away from the main plaza where Frida Kahlo used to hang out. The cobblestone streets around here are lined with cafes where locals actually drink their morning coffee (not just tourist traps), and there’s this weekend artisan market that happens practically at your doorstep. Couples seem to absolutely love wandering these tree-lined streets together, which makes total sense given how romantic the whole area feels, especially in the evenings when the street lights create these perfect little pools of warm light.

The Space Itself

The room — well, it’s more like a mini-apartment really — has this artisanal vibe that the name promises but doesn’t feel forced or Instagram-manufactured. There’s actual character here, with local artwork and handcrafted details that feel authentic rather than mass-produced. The space is thoughtfully designed too; everything you need is there without feeling cramped, and the natural light during the day is just beautiful. I particularly loved how they’ve managed to create distinct areas within the loft that make it feel larger than it actually is.

Local Living

What sets this place apart is how it drops you right into neighborhood life rather than keeping you in a tourist bubble. There’s a fantastic little restaurant called Los Danzantes just a few blocks away where you can get proper mole, and the Sunday market in Plaza Hidalgo becomes your weekend entertainment. You’ll find yourself doing grocery runs at the local mercado and actually feeling like a temporary resident rather than just another visitor passing through. The hosts clearly know the area well and their recommendations tend to be spot-on for finding those places that locals frequent.

Why Guests Love It

Honestly, it’s the combination of location and character that makes this work so well. You’re getting an authentic Mexico City neighborhood experience without sacrificing comfort or cleanliness — and that 9.8 rating isn’t just a fluke. The fact that couples consistently rate the location so highly tells you something about the romantic appeal of wandering Coyoacan’s streets hand-in-hand. Plus, when you want to venture into the city center, you’re not stuck in some remote corner — the metro connections are solid, but you’ll probably find yourself wanting to stay in the neighborhood more often than not.

This was one of the nicest lofts I have ever stayed in 😍 everything was perfect from the location, to the decor, to the water pressure in the shower! Allie and Ricardo were gracious hosts and very helpful and communicative. The location was excellent, just a couple blocks from the Zocalo and many incredible restaurants around! The place next door became our favorite for quality, traditional Mexican meals. The kitchen was well equipped to cook from home. There were ample linens, but my most favorite thing was the decor! ✨ We hope to be back one day soon! Thank you for a 5 star stay!

What could be improved: I can’t think of a thing!
