Singular Sócrates Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Singular Sócrates on a tree-lined street in Polanco, you immediately get the sense this isn’t your typical chain hotel. The building has this understated elegance — it’s a three-star property that honestly feels like it’s punching above its weight class. The entrance is intimate, almost residential, which I actually prefer to those massive lobby scenes you get at bigger hotels. This boutique approach sets the tone for the entire stay.

The Polanco Advantage

Here’s what I love about staying in this part of Mexico City — you’re genuinely in one of the city’s most sophisticated neighborhoods without the tourist circus. Polanco means you can walk to incredible restaurant (I’m talking about places locals actually go), and you’re close enough to Chapultepec Park that morning jogs become a real option. The couples who stay here seem to get it — there’s something romantic about wandering these streets that feel more European than typical Mexico City. The Polanco metro station is close by, so getting around the city is surprisingly easy.

The Room Experience

My room was compact but thoughtfully designed — they’ve clearly put effort into making every square meter count. The beds are comfortable (not amazing, but solid), and the bathrooms are modern with good water pressure, which honestly matters more than you’d think in Mexico City. What struck me was the attention to details like decent lighting for reading and enough outlets for your devices. It’s not flashy, but everything works the way it should. The design philosophy prioritizes function and comfort over unnecessary frills.

Neighborhood Life

Staying here puts you right in the middle of Polanco’s daily rhythm. There’s a great coffee shop literally around the corner — you’ll stumble onto it during your first morning walk. The area feels safe for evening strolls, and you’ll find yourself discovering small galleries and boutiques that don’t show up in guidebooks. I actually ended up having some of my best meals at places I just wandered into within a few blocks of the hotel. The tree-covered streets make it feel almost like a different city entirely, offering a peaceful escape from the busier parts of the metropolis.

Why Guests Love It

Look, Singular Sócrates isn’t trying to be something it’s not — it’s a well-run, comfortable place to stay in one of Mexico City’s best neighborhoods. The staff genuinely seems to care about your experience, and the location really is exceptional (those guest ratings aren’t lying). For the price point, you’re getting access to Polanco without paying resort prices, and that’s honestly pretty rare. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in the city rather than just visiting it. The hotel succeeds by focusing on what matters most: genuine hospitality and an unbeatable location.

Reviews of Singular Sócrates

  • Dina from Australia – 7 January 2025 (8/10)

The room and the apartment were spacious. Staff was nice and responsive

What could be improved: Have to ask for toilet paper every second day the booking was in total for 7 people and they only provided 1 toilet paper in one room at a time and 2 for the apartment.

  • Kristin from Germany – 5 October 2024 (7/10)

    Lage

  • Aditya from India – 29 September 2024 (7/10)

I stayed for 1 day and room was decent, sufficient enough for 2*23 kg luggage and to sleep.
Kitchen and washrooms are clean & accessible.
The Hotel location is on one of the prime area in Polaco, Mexico City.
    Everything ( restaurants/ malls/ museums/groceries/bus/taxi) 5-10 min walking distance.
    Value for Money.

What could be improved: Internet speed is good 20MBPS but faced disconnection issues in room as well as in common area

  • Joaquin from Mexico – 27 June 2024 (8/10)

    Clean

  • Selene from Uruguay – 26 April 2024 (8/10)

    Location (excellent)
    Staff (wonderful)
My room had a good window that opened
    The bathroom was clean

What could be improved: The kit looked clean but inside the drawers it was filthy
    The fridge was dirty
There were no pots, pans, etc.

  • Andrew from Mexico – 23 April 2024 (7/10)

Location and value for money is good. Cleanliness good. A place I will stay again.

What could be improved: The night staff in their kitchen were talking too loud well after midnight too loudly, as there is a central open area so their volume came up to the rooms. They were kind, yet laughed as I politely and my quietly asked them please to quiet.
The single person W/C Baños can only be used one person at a time so if a sudden need happened, one would be in trouble. Otherwise a nice clean very tidy place

  • Sudhakar from Australia – 19 January 2024 (6/10)

Very Good , Safe Location ,

What could be improved: Staff is good , Good communication. Location is good but Not value for money , Toilet, Bathroom is sharing. Very Very bad wifi .They do not change towels every day . Even after asked 2 towels , where they provide only 1 .
Not enough accessories in kitchen like basic knife , cutting board etc . I thing they do not like to use provided kitchen , so do not need to any cleaning.. Even if some gust keep their left over dry grocery in cupboard they simply throw, like salt , peppers , oil etc .
    I won’t come back .

  • Ivan from Germany – 17 December 2023 (8/10)

The location was really great with shopping malls, restaurants and stores around. The area is quite nice and calm. The staff was really nice and helpful. The shared kitchen and living room is a good plus.

What could be improved: The room was really small and hot.

  • Sundar from Mexico – 12 December 2023 (8/10)

Friendly and helpful staff, convenient location, comfortable bed, table fan was provided, hot water in shower had great pressure.

What could be improved: Not enough sound isolation, could hear guests in neighbouring rooms all night and couldn't sleep.
Low pressure in wash basin faucets.
Both clothes rack and wooden stand below TV were falling apart (the wooden stand wasn't screwed to the wall, but hung from two screws instead, and fell off when I first opened the door; clothes rack wasn't put together well and came apart each time I bumped into it).

  • Manuela from Colombia – 13 April 2023 (8/10)

We stay at an amazing apartment, pretty big and with everything you could need. Its really clean, spacious and near to supermarkets so you can cook.

What could be improved: The only thing i didn't like is that is pretty far from Subway, also there aren't restaurants or pubs near, just a few places some blocks aways but not really a lot of choices.
